Grand Rounds 4.08

Dr. Anonymous, a versatile fellow who does radio casts, podcasts, mounts videos on his blog and writes a wonderful blog in addition to all the pyrotechnics, is hosting Grand Rounds this week. If accessing all these is difficult, you can be well satisfied just to read his blog.

"Borneo Breezes tells the tale of a medical student cholera workshop in Uganda. (Great pictures!)As a result of their visit they learned that people in the fishing village were collecting drinking water from the Kazinga Channel frequented by hippos, water buffalo, elephants and a multitude of birds. Boiling was not regularly done because wood and money for fuel was in short supply. Oral rehydration packets in the health unit had all been used up. Juices were being made from unboiled water. Handwashing was not doine regularly and latrines were available in only one-third of the homes. So there were many possible sources for spread of cholera and much need of health education."

Grand Rounds at Grunt Doctor

Grand Rounds is Up and Getting Higher

Medical Grand Rounds is up and definitely getting higher at Rumors Were True. Just click on the Holy Grail and it will take you there. Topher has not only selected 26 fine pieces from over 60 submitted but it seems he did one better and went looking for new talent. He displays it all with music, art and humour based on Monty Python's Legend of the Holy Grail. Makes you wonder if the rumors are true and the sunshine, music and laidback approach in the Caribbean does bring out creativity. I am pleased to have How Children Play included.

Grand Rounds is Very Up

Grand Rounds is up at Dr. Hebert's Medical Gumbo. And a very fine Grand Rounds it is, based on Edgar Allen Poe's poem The Raven.

We call these birds Thompson Turkeys in northern Manitoba and the Haida on the west cost where I live now, credit them as the creators of the world. Go see what Dr. Hebert has done with this bird and the poem. It makes a fine theme for this eerie time of year.

Medical Blog Grand Rounds

Especially for my students. This week The Examining Room of Dr. Charles is hosting Grand Rounds and has provided a wonderful collection of 57 medical blog selections from all across the blogosphere. If you click on the highlighted "Examining Room of Dr. Charles" you will go directly to Grand Rounds.

Once a week for the past 100 weeks there is a Medical Blog Grand Rounds. The host blog reviews submissions from medical bloggers and compiles a post on the host website. The post by the host has a short introduction to each featured blog and a hyperlink which allows you to click on it go directly to the featured blog. It is a good opportunity to check out a number of medical blogs which you might find interesting.

There is one blog called Aetiology that deals with epidemiology themes, especially infectious disease related. Several blogs with the intersection of life and medicine. My favourite is Tundra Medicine Dreams, a blog by a Physician Assistant in a tiny community in Alaska who writes about life and health in the Arctic. There is even one blog in the grand rounds which discusses a old childrens book about doctors. This week's Grand Rounds is a lovely collections of snapshots of different aspects of medicine. Borneo Breezes is pleased to have Hazy Daze featured somewhere in the middle. Enjoy.

I am celebrating that I have solved my problem with loading pictures. I actually counted down 404 lines manually located char 5 and then didn't know what to do. So I looked at other lines and thought maybe I should line it up with them. And presto, it worked. Either that or someone in the innards of my computer finally heard my cries and answered me.
